The 5th Regional Health Authority of Thessaly and Continental Greece is one of the seven Health Districts of the country. Its purpose is the planning, coordination, supervision and control of the operations of all Health Service Providers (Hospitals, Health Centers, etc.) of the region. In addition, it submits suggestions, measures and proposals to the Ministry of Health, aimed at providing complete and efficient health care services to the population of their region.
Electrical panels, like other mission-critical electrical equipment, are predisposed to a number of fire hazards. These are predominantly related to arcing, overheating, and human negligence. Fires might also be caused by overloaded and/ or aged circuits. Similarly, electrical panels might become overloaded when there is a maldistribution of electrical power. In such cases, a possible fire will spread, causing even more significant damage if nearby combustibles ignite. For these reasons, the protection against fires in electrical equipment in Health Centers is a necessity.
Design, install, and commission various fire suppression systems for the protection of the low voltage electrical panels in 33 Health Centers. The premises, registered under the 5th Regional Health Authority of Thessaly and Continental Greece, mostly serve remote regions and electrical panels are essential for the proper operation of these sites. The task is to protect them against fires caused by short circuits and other causes (eg. rodents) with a modular and low maintenance solution that can rapidly suppress a fire and reduce the risk of collateral damage.
FirePro has an exceptional track record in suppressing and limiting damage from fires in electrical panels because, notwithstanding the presence of small leakage areas that may lead to partial agent escape, it can still suppress and prevent fire re-ignition. FirePro systems’ modularity, compactness, and certified 15-year product life are further benefits setting it apart from other technologies. The FirePro condensed aerosol generators are safe to handle and environmentally friendly, even post-activation and are approved and certified by the world’s leading authorities in the field of fire protection.
FirePro Hellas S.A. and its exclusive central Greece sub-distributor Charitos Thomas were appointed to design and install the fire suppression systems for all 33 Health Centers of the 5th Regional Health Authority of Thessaly and Continental Greece. In effect, an FPC-4R module is installed inside the electrical panels and is used to detect fire through a linear heat detection cable. It is connected to a compact cylindrical FirePro condensed aerosol generator ready to activate in case of fire in the enclosure. The system is very effective, requires little maintenance and can suppress multiple classes of fire.
