ARK Yachts is a leading design, engineering and ship building company, specialized in tailor-made sailing and motor yachts built in steel and aluminium. Its mission is to create exceptional, high quality yachts, using sophisticated craftsmanship, quality materials and state-of-the-art environmentally friendly technologies.
The fire risks involved in Marine applications include electrical faults, battery compartment ignitions, accidents and of course human error. In a fire, any type of material/fuel may combust. It is therefore, vital that the fire extinguishing system is effective against various classes of fire and can operate as early as possible to avoid further harmful effects to assets or to human lives.
Design, install, commission and maintain a fire protection system for the CHRONOS luxury yacht. She is a 55-metre (179 ft.) RINA class two-mast-ketch sailing vessel with a crew of 8 and accommodation for 26 people. MED and the Dutch Marine Inspection request total flooding fire suppression system on board passenger ships. The primary concerns regarding any fire extinguishing system in the open seas is performance reliability and effectiveness. The system should also be space and weight saving and have low maintenance requirements.
FirePro pre-engineered systems are compact and minimise the weight and space burden on vessels. They are of proven exceptional reliability and require very little maintenance when compared to other fire suppression systems. The FirePro FPC compound poses no threat to human health when used properly and is also harmless to the environment and/or technical equipment. Critically, the systems are approved under the IMO directive MSC.1/Circ.1270 and are installed in line with Lloyds Register, the American Bureau of Shipping requirements and the Dutch Marine Inspection authorities.
FirePro systems were installed by CATTAS trained personnel during the course of one week. They currently protect various areas and critical equipment on the vessel. The technology is approved by both international Marine Standards and local authorities and provide a highly effective fire suppression system with an operational effectiveness of 15 years. Overall, FirePro attributes and characteristics provide further assurances to both crew and maintenance teams.
