Transformer rooms carry a number of fire hazards, even in the presence of highly capable operators. These hazards are primarily linked to moisture, dirt, age, excessive temperatures and technical faults that can degrade the dielectric (isolating) materials. As a result of this degradation, arcing will occur, leading to temperatures of thousands of degrees which can cause a fire. The consequences of a fire incident with these assets can be catastrophic. Damage to the premises and peripheral equipment involves long downtimes, insurance claims and injuries.
Design and install a reliable and robust automatic fire suppression system for protecting the Transformers. By assessing the fire hazards and implementing proper fire risk mitigation methods, the fire engineers sought to diminish the fire risk, maintain maximum uptime and safeguard the well-being of the business and its employees. Fire Engineers also sought to ensure that the system would adhere to strict International Standard Compliance (ISO15779), could be easily maintained, and that it aligned with Akritas’ environmental protection requirements.

FirePro Hellas supplied the bespoke FirePro fire suppression systems as per project specifications to protect the Transformer rooms. FIREX Hellas engineers designed the system from the ground up and carried out the installation with a double-knock system. The systems currently protect the enclosures and are ready to suppress any looming fire incident. The systems can contain potential damages to the equipment and peripherals and consequently reduce down-time and other collateral damages.
